Christopher S. Cooper, MD
Dr. Cooper was recently awarded Subspecialty Certification in Pediatric Urology as an American Board of Urology Diplomate. Dr. Cooper and Dr. Austin are the only two subspecialty-certified pediatric urologists in the state of Iowa.
A native of Iowa City, Iowa, Dr. Cooper graduated
from the University of Iowa College of medicine in 1991,
where he was awarded the Nathan G. Alcock Scholarship for
Outstanding Achievement in Urology. In 1997 he completed the University of Iowa urology residency program after receiving an outstanding teaching
award from the students and the Iowa Urologic Society.
Dr. Cooper subsequently completed a two-year pediatric
urology fellowship at the Children's Hospital of
Philadelphia. During this fellowship, he was the
recipient of an American Foundation for Urologic Disease
and American Urologic Association research scholarship.
He was subsequently awarded the first Frank Hinman, Jr.
Award for clinical research by the Society of Pediatric
Urology.
Following completion of his fellowship he was
recruited back to the University of Iowa School of
Medicine, where his practice is exclusively Pediatric
Urology at the University of Iowa Children's Hospital.
