Annador Khan

Patient and Visitors Activity Center #3
Annador Khan

Digital collages explore a personal world that is both surreal and ordinary in Annadora Khan's exhibit.

Raised in a Christian home in the Muslim state of Pakistan, Annadora was a teenage immigrant to middle America in the late 1960s and now resides in Iowa City.

Khan photographs friends and co-workers in the familiar environment of her home and garden using ordinary props and settings that appear again and again in her images. A wicker chair, a flower, a door—she transports these recognizable motifs into a dreamlike, sometimes uneasy, world.

Gallery II

Art work of Barbara Dale Hanes on exhibit through June 18, 2008

Using line and a mastery of drawing, Barbara Dale Hanes uses color openly and arbitrarily to create her art. “I am an opponent of ‘art for art's sake,’ preferring ‘beauty for the sake of beauty.’ I also side with Einstein when he said, ‘Play is the highest form of research.’”

Hanes holds a BA from the University of Northern Iowa and has studied in France, Italy, and Canada. She is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America.
