  • Observe, monitor, and report on behaviors of concern
  • Complete educational assessments-academic, affective, developmental, vocational
  • Include social skills training-anger management, friendship skills, impulse control cognitive restructuring, self-esteem building, following directions
  • Supervise academic work sent from local school or provide appropriate school work
  • Provide adapted or remedial instruction, if needed
  • Explore behavior management strategies to develop student's self-control
  • Make recommendations to local school or academic behavioral and/or placement changes
  • Provide individual counseling to address current problem areas

Students also participate in recreation therapy in various settings on the UI Hospitals and Clinics campus and in the Iowa City community.
