About the Music Therapy Internship
The UI Hospitals and Clinics music therapy program offers interns clinical experience with patients of all ages throughout the hospital. This is a closely supervised, six-month internship in which interns will:
- Observe music therapy and related service interventions (PT, OT, Child Life, Educational Services) in respective areas
- Independently plan and implement group and individual music therapy sessions
- Demonstrate musicianship through:
- Broad use of repertoire
- Creative use of instrumentation
- Song transcription
- Original song writing
- Complete a case study
- Complete a project
- Complete readings related to internship experiences
- Participate in regular communication and supervision with music therapists
- Visit other music therapy programs in the area
