Interventions

Occupational therapy interventions at UI Hospitals and Clinics focus on education, movement, and adaptive techniques and tools to facilitate an individual's return to his/her previous level of independence. Interventions include:

  • Exercise: range of motion, strengthening, fine motor coordination
  • Endurance building/energy conservation
  • Sensory retraining/compensatory techniques
  • Cognitive retraining: coma stimulation to high-level cognitive skills
  • Ergonomics
  • Splint fabrication
  • Visual perceptual retraining
  • Training on use of assistive devices
