Meal Preparation Group

This group provides an opportunity for patients with eating disorders to plan, shop, and prepare meals themselves with nutritional guidelines (formulated in conjunction with the UI Hospitals and Clinics Food and Nutrition Department) in a more normalized environment. The group, which closely resembles an actual living situation, will facilitate independence, comfort, and social interaction around food. Fears and concerns are validated and processed, encouraging healthy and effective problem solving.

Community-based activities may include choosing a local restaurant and dining out. Patients referred to this group will need to have many of their eating disorder behaviors under control.
