If you have one or more of these, you are at increased risk for having pre-diabetes, IGT, or type 2 diabetes. You are encouraged to take advantage of the free REACH screening at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. This consists of a risk factor assessment and a fasting venous blood sample for a diagnostic quality blood glucose measurement.
If the diagnosis of pre-diabetes or IGT is made, we strongly recommend follow-up with your health care provider. In addition, you may benefit from the REACH eight-week program, which is designed to improve health by modifying lifestyle factors that increase the likelihood of developing type 2 diabetes and related complications. |
