Carbon Monoxide (CO) Poisoning
Tests Performed on CO Poisoned Patients

The following tests are indicated in CO poisoning:

  • EKG, ABG with oxtgen saturation, COHb, neuro/psychomotor exam

Many centers also recommend these further tests in CO poisoning.

  • Chest x-ray to rule out pulmonary pathology.
  • Electrolytes for metabolic disturbances.
  • Lactate (if available) for metabolic acidosis accompanying poisoning.
  • Cardiac enzymes for early myocardial damage.
