Hourly Rate of Pay for Language Bank Interpreters

Starting rate for Language Bank interpreters is $15 per hour for oral interpreting and $25 per hour for written translating.

To receive an increase in pay, the Language Bank interpreter must meet both the Years of Service and the Hours of Service thresholds. For example, an interpreter with more than 1 year of service but less than 100 hours of service would receive $15 per hour for oral interpreting. An interpreter with less than 1 year of service but more than 100 hours of service would also receive $15 per hour.

Exceptions to the pay scale may be negotiated in instances in which a Language Bank interpreter is the only interpreter available in a specific language. Any exceptions to the pay scale must be negotiated with the Director of Social Service.
