Spiritual care for parents and infants in crisis

Having an infant at risk is a life-shaking experience. This is a time when the presence and guidance of your spiritual faith can be vitally important to help you. A Chaplain from the Department of Spiritual Services is available to assist your spiritual needs during this time of crisis.

In addition to the support and care provided by a Chaplain, special religious services are available during your infant's crisis. These are provided in keeping with the rites and practices of your religious beliefs.

  • Blessing
  • Dedication
  • Christening/Naming Ceremony
  • Baptism
  • Prayers of Commendation

If you have a religious tradition with different practices, the Chaplain will contact a clergy or spiritual leader from your faith tradition and arrange to have that ritual made available for you, if possible.

Please ask your nurse to page the appropriate Chaplain:

God, grant me the
serenity to accept the
things I cannot
change, the courage
to change the
things I can,
and the wisdom to
know the difference.
Amen.
