It is a response to the educational requirement of the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education mandating that Supervisor-in-training be a part of a training peer group. The covenanting centers determined the combining the educational resources of their individual programs synergistically increased the quality and effectiveness of their efforts.

The mission of the Academy is to provide an educational forum the supports the supports the supervisory CPE programs of the covenanting members and peer support for both CPE supervisory and Supervisors in training, as required by the Standards for supervisory training of the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education.

The Academy convenes for a full day once a month with a curriculum of:

  • Clinical presentations
  • Theoretical presentations in the areas of theology, personality, and education
  • CPE curriculum
  • Certification issues and mock committee appearances
  • Peer review and support with a group each for supervisory and supervisors-in-training

In addition to the Supervisory faculty of the covenanting CPE centers, additional faculty are other ACPE certified Supervisors who have a vested interest in participating in supervisory CPE training.
