Supervisory Clinical Pastoral Education


Trainig Curriculum
The curriculum of Supervisory Clinical Pastoral Eduction (CPE) is two years and will include:
  1. Individualized Learning Contract
    At the beginning of each unit of Supervisory CPE, the resident develops a personalized learning contract. This contract complements the objectives the ACPE Standards for supervisory CPE and the curriculum of UI Hospitals and Clinics Supervisory CPE program.

  2. Weekly Individual Supervision
    In individual supervision, the supervisory-in-training will be accountable to his/her supervisory for his/her progress on the learning goals, both individual and ACPE, and for all clinical work with CPE students.

  3. CPE Supervisor-in-training Peer Group
    This group offers peer review of one’s CPE supervision and the required ACPE position papers.

  4. Supervisory Involvement with a CPE group
    Initially, this will be through observation. When a conceptual base is established, this will be supervision of a Level I CPE group.

  5. Academy for Supervisory CPE
    A forum for didactic presentation on the theory and art of supervision.

  6. Clinical Review Day
    Critique and entical review of one's clinical supervision by peer SES’s and supervisors

  7. ACPE Position Papers
    As required in ACPE Standards
