Although Iowa is a state that allows "direct access" to physical therapy, UI Hospitals and Clinics policy requires that all patients must have a physician prescription for physical therapy services. The Department of Rehabilitation Therapies can accept a referral from any physician as long as the referral has been made within the last 30 days. UI Hospitals and Clinics accepts most insurance plans, but patients are advised to contact their insurance company to verify coverage for physical therapy services. |
