Clinic Information

Autism Spectrum and Developmental Disorders Clinic

The autism clinic meets on Monday mornings for team evaluations. Autism spectrum evaluations consist of a medical diagnostic, with consultations in testing psychology, speech/language/communication, and education. A diagnostic conference follows the evaluations. The family and medical professionals involved in the child's care, then participate in an interpretation conference.

The clinic day starts at 8 a.m. Parents meet with the Child Psychiatrist while the child begins working one-on-one with a consultant until all testing and interactions are complete. Most families are complete and ready to go home by 1 p.m. that afternoon. The children seem to enjoy themselves and our clinic looks more like a school than a doctor's office.

Diagnostic evaluations can be requested at 319-356-1478. A patient can be referred by parents, school personnel, medical clinicians, or other health professionals.

The clinic also offers follow-up appointments for medical, educational, and psychological treatments.
