Feeding Disorder
A feeding disorder is a persistent failure to eat adequately with significant failure to gain weight or significant loss of weight. There are often problems in the feeding interaction and many children with this disorder are described as difficult or irritable especially during mealtime.

  • Center for Disabilities and Development provides services for feeding and growth problems through the Feeding and Growth Management Service. The Center’s interdisciplinary team evaluates medical concerns and provides assistance in developing proper weight gain, good nutrition, safe swallowing and eating, reduced constipation or diarrhea, and more enjoyable mealtimes.   • Pediatric Psychology provides inpatient and outpatient behavioral analysis and treatment of infants and toddlers with feeding disorders. Children may have a medically related condition resulting in feeding disorder or experience conditioning experiences resulting in a behavioral feeding disorder. For inpatient medically related severe feeding disorders, behavioral psychology and pediatric gastroenterologists are involved. Call 888-573-5437 or 319-356-2434.
