Learning and Developmental Disorders
These illnesses affect learning, communication and motor skills as manifest by difficulties in reading, mathematics, written expression, expressive or receptive language, or coordination.

  • Center for Disabilities and Development offers neuropsychological assessments and educational evaluations to aid in the diagnosis and treatment neurodevelopmental disorders affecting learning. Additional evaluations by other Center team members (e.g., speech/language pathologist or occupational therapist) can be provided as needed. Services provided by educational consultants include academic testing, assistance in developing IEPs, and consultation/outreach to community schools. Call 319-353-6900 or 877-686-0031.
  • Child and Adolescent Psychiatry provides comprehensive neuropsychological assessments and education evaluations to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of learning and behavior disorders affecting school functioning. Services provided by educational consultants and psychologists may include academic testing, assistance in developing IEPs, observation/consultation/outreach to community schools. Additional evaluations by other team members (speech and language pathologist, occupational therapist) are arranged as needed. Call 319-356-1188 or 877-384-8999.
  • Pediatric Psychology provides comprehensive neuropsychological and achievement evaluation for children, adolescents, and college students with question of learning disorders. This includes assessment of language, memory, visual-spatial, and visual-motor functions. It also includes assessment of differential diagnoses of dyslexia, dysphasia, dysnomia, and dyscalculia. The treatment recommendations are specific to the individual neuropsychological patterns of strengths and weaknesses of the individual. Call: 888-573-5437 or 319-356-2434.
