Eating Disorders

These illnesses are manifested by patients who refuse to maintain normal body weight, have an intense fear of gaining weight, and a distorted body image. Behaviors include restricting food intake, binging on large quantities of food, and purging calories through vomiting, diuretics, laxatives, over-exercising, or other means.
