Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)


Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is an anxiety disorder that is characterized by repetitive obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors that must be repeated to relieve the anxiety. Typical obsessions include thoughts about contamination, fear of harming oneself or others, or repeating certain words or phrases. Examples of compulsive behaviors include excessive hand washing or cleaning, checking, and counting behaviors. OCD is believed to be a brain disorder and is treated with medication and behavior therapy.
