With specialists in pediatric trauma available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, children receive expert pediatric trauma care. Critically ill or injured children and preterm and critically ill newborn infants are brought to University of Iowa Children's Hospital by a special team of emergency/intensive care nurses and therapists in an intensive care transport system that included the Mobile Critical Care unit and Air Care helicopters.
