Child Protection Program

The University of Iowa has an established tradition of providing services for suspected victims of child abuse and neglect.

The mission of the Child Protection Program at the UIHC is to promote the safety, protection, and well being of children through the coordination of assessment, educational, therapeutic, and intervention services. With this mission in mind, the Child Protection Program provides evaluation, consultation and educational services to medical professionals and families within the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and, extramurally, to community agencies in Johnson County, Eastern Iowa and the State of Iowa at large as part of the Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine.

Via Child Assessment Clinic, which is the outpatient services section of the Child Protection Program, a safe and child friendly environment is provided to interview children who are alleged to be victims of abuse.
