X-Ray, by Ryan, Age 14
Taking a picture of your insides
You may have to put on a gown, depending what part of your body they
are taking a picture of. It is usually cold in the room, and the X-ray
machine or table is cold, but you can ask for a blanket. Like with any
other picture, you need to hold still for the x-ray, or they may have
to take it again. X-rays do not usually hurt. The doctor or X-ray technician
may ask you to take a deep breath then blow it all the way out, then take
a breath in and hold it until the x-ray is taken, and the machine moves
close to you. You will wear a heavy vest or cover to protect you from
the rays.
The technician may leave the room for a short time while taking the X-ray.
