Meet Kid Captain Cal Kunnert

An all-terrain vehicle accident pinned Cal Kunnert against a tree when he was just five, breaking his collarbone and five ribs and puncturing both his lungs. Airlifted by helicopter to UI Children’s Hospital, Cal spent more than two weeks in intensive care, where medical teams worked around the clock to repair his lungs and heal his other injuries.
