We would like to invite you to be a member of the Youth Advisory Council at the University of Iowa Children's Hospital at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
This group consists of ten children who are patients, past patients, sibling, or youth from the community. The purpose of the council is to advise hospital employees and administration on issue regarding hospitalization and/or treatment in outpatient clinics as experienced through the eyes of a child. We have just finished our first year and have made a lot of positive contributions!
Our first 1999-2000 meeting will be held on June 6, 1999, during the Children's Miracle Network Telethon at the University of Iowa Children's Hospital. Thee meeting will be at 12:00 noon with lunch provided. The location is the 7th floor Atrium Dining Rooms A & B off Elevator F. As part of our meeting, we will have opportunities to assist with the telethon. At 3:00, we will answer telephones at the telethon. The meeting will end at 4:00 p.m.
Your commitment to serve on the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) includes:
- A two year commitment
- Attend four to five meetings a year. Meetings will be held on a Saturday or Sunday and will be approximately 2 hours in length
- Speak openly about how you think the hospital can be more child-friendly
You will receive a $20.00 participation fee for each meeting you attend, and food will be provided at each meeting.
We are excited about this group and feel that your involvement on the council will be beneficial to the University of Iowa Children's Hospital. Please RSVP on the enclosed form and mail in the self-addressed, stamped envelope. We hope to see you on Sunday, June 6thl.
