Except for emergencies, patients are encouraged to make an appointment in advance to see their UI Family Care provider. All patient appointments are scheduled according to need and type of care required.

New Patients

• Review our complete listing of UI Family Care locations to schedule an appointment with the clinic or physician of your choice. Select the “scheduling” option when prompted during your phone call.
• Or, for assistance finding a physician or clinic 24 hours-a-day, seven days a week, call UI Health Access at 319-384-8442 or 800-777-8442.
• Complete the online patient appointment form.
• New patients are encouraged to fill out a medical records request form.

Current Patients

• If you are a current patient, simply call your UI Family Care clinic to schedule an appointment.
• Complete the online patient appointment form.

Urgent Care

• We leave time open each day to evaluate and treat acute illnesses and injuries.
• If you need urgent care during normal office hours, call your UI Family Care clinic, state that your situation is urgent, and ask to speak with the medical staff. We can then determine if you should be seen in the clinic or if a referral is necessary.

After Hours Help

• If you need assistance after normal business hours, UI Health Access is available 24-hours a day, seven days a week and will provide you with names of physicians, clinic locations, and basic recommendations on what to do in a variety of medical situations. Emergencies

• If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 9-1-1 immediately.
• If your situation is critical, go directly to an emergency room and inform the medical staff of your physician’s name.
