Since July 2000, Henri Cuddihy, MD, has served as Medical Director of UI HealthWorks, the occupational medicine affiliate of University of Iowa Health Care. Cuddihy brings 20 years of experience in occupational medicine, regulatory issues, and consulting to employers and insurance carriers. He combines medical, business, and regulatory expertise to benefit employees, employers, case managers, and insurers.

Cuddihy is available to see employees for:

• Pre-placement evaluations
• Work injuries
• Disability and impairment ratings
• Independent medical evaluations

Moreover, he has expertise in job matching and functional evaluation. This combination allows a more strategic approach to disability management, cost control and the prevention of work-related health problems.

Before coming to Iowa, Cuddihy directed the Foothill Medical Center in Irwindale, California. While there, he worked as a medical consultant to Southern California Edison, PacifiCare’s COMPREMIER, Southern Pacific Railroad, and the State Competition Insurance Fund of California. He also served on the California Advisory Committee for Fee Schedule Development and helped write and edit the Physician’s Guide, Medical Practice in the California Workers’ Compensation System.

Cuddihy received his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine and completed an emergency medicine residency at the Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center. Cuddihy later completed an intensive residency program in occupational medicine at the University of California-San Francisco before becoming board certified in occupational medicine.

Tracie Abbott has been with UI HealthWorks since October 2000.  She specializes in providing occupational medicine services, including the treatment of work-related injuries as well as pre-placement physicals and screening and testing services. She also coordinates UI HealthWorks on-site services for drug screens, immunizations, and health promotion activities.

Abbott completed her MSN/ARNP degree from the University of Iowa College of Nursing. She previously worked at UI Hospitals and Clinics as an RN in the departments of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, Dermatology, and Urology.

Lynn Cuddihy, RN, BSN, director of the Work-Related Health Care Services, holds certifications as an occupational health nurse specialist, case manager, and disability management specialist. Prior to joining UI Hospitals and Clinics, she spent 10 years as an independent case manager in California.
