Dobutamine Stress Echocardiography

• Hold beta blockers for 24 hours prior to stress test
• Eat a light breakfast or lunch prior to appointment time

Exercise Stress Test

• Wear comfortable shoes for walking
• Women should wear or bring slacks or shorts

Transesophageal Echocardiography

Outpatients:

• Nothing to eat or drink for six hours prior to test (medication may be taken with small amount of water)
• You must be accompanied by a driver since you will be sedated

Inpatients:

• Nothing to eat or drink six hours prior to test, this includes tube feedings.
• Either able to sign consent themselves or have a person authorized to consent for them available.
