• Facilitates the Process Improvement Teams (PIT) related to Value Analysis and Performance Service and Value Management, with specific focus on appropriate use of cost effective products and services.
• Administers the Process Improvement Grant Programs (PIG).
• Serves as the Liaison to the University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC).
• Assists in identification of cost saving opportunities and providing improved communication for Novation product standardization, and reporting of results.
• Facilitates validation and insures process of University of Iowa Save Money and Reward Thriftiness Program (UI SMART)

A coordinating committee of UI Hospitals and Clinics management and clinical staff provides support for the VAP, which suggests and supports projects for the Value Analysis Facilitator (VAF) to pursue and helps ensure that cost savings initiatives, are successfully implemented across all departments.
