Why Wild Rose?

The wild rose became the official State Flower of Iowa in 1897.

The flower is beautiful, tenacious, and hardy.
Its fruit is an important food source for wildlife.
As an image, the wild rose symbolizes the strength and beauty of our volunteers who provide valuable services to our patients, visitors, and staff, and is a reminder of the special link between UI Hospitals and Clinics and the State of Iowa.
