Who may apply?
Any student who is 14 years old or will have completed eighth grade by June 1 is eligible to apply. Applications are available in the Volunteer Services office in March and the application deadline is April 30. A limited number of openings exist.
What will I do?
This eight-week summer program focuses on exposing students to careers in the health care fields as well as fostering service values. Students will rotate through various clinics in the hospital as Junior Volunteers, attend career seminars to learn more about career opportunities in medical fields, and learn more about how a hospital operates through tours of the hospital facilities.
When does it begin?
The program begins after school is out in June and continues for eight weeks through August. Prior to the start of the program, you are required to attend an evening orientation session with a parent in May.
During the summer, you will work one or two half days per week and attend one career workshop each week. It is required that you be present for a minimum of seven weeks of the eight week program.
