We welcome your patient referrals.
Services are aimed at women age 18 and older suffering from mood and/or anxiety disorders during pre-pregnancy planning, pregnancy, and the postpartum period (up to 12 months after delivery).
Each patient will be contacted to schedule an initial evaluation appointment.
- Providers may choose to use the Women's Wellness and Counseling Service referral form. Download the PDF form, print it out, and fax it to 319-353-7788.
- Providers outside the UI Hospitals and Clinics network may also use the online UI Consult form. When using this form, please specify "perinatal mental health issues" in the Reason for Referral section, and "Women's Wellness and Counseling Service" in the Special Requests section.
- UI physicians may refer patients via IPR consult forms.
- Providers may also call 319-356-2294 to arrange clinical consultations or to obtain second opinions or general information.
The Women's Wellness and Counseling Service is the site of a number of clinical trials and research endeavors. These include:
- Treatment of postpartum depression with medication and psychotherapy
- Treatment of perinatal anxiety with psychotherapy
- Treatment of perinatal depression in adolescents
- Treatment of postpartum depression with couples therapy
- Development of screening instruments for perinatal depression and anxiety
- Development of services for perinatal women
- Evaluation of polycystic ovarian syndrome
- Treatment of psychiatric disorders during infertility
This research directly benefits patients who receive services based on the latest data and empirical research. Clinicians and researchers are encouraged to seek additional information on Women’s Wellness and Counseling Service’s various research endeavors, call 319-356-2294 to request information. Collaboration is also welcome. Patients also have the opportunity to learn more about the Women’s Wellness and Counseling Service’s research studies and are encouraged to take part in them if they are interested and eligible.
