Service Information for Providers


We welcome your patient referrals.

Services are provided for women age 18 and older suffering from mood and/or anxiety disorders during pre-pregnancy planning, infertility treatment, pregnancy, and the postpartum period (up to 12 months after delivery). We also provide psychiatric services for women experiencing menopausal symptoms and those suffering from PMS or PMDD.

After referral, each patient will be contacted to schedule an initial evaluation appointment.

  • Providers may call 319-353-1898 to make a referral or for general information.
  • Providers may also choose to use the Women's Wellness and Counseling Service referral form. Download the PDF form, print it out, and fax it to 319-335-0991.
  • UI physicians may refer patients by calling 319-353-1898 and via IPR consult forms (consult OB/Gyn- Women’s Wellness).

The Women's Wellness and Counseling Service is the site of a number of clinical trials and research endeavors. These include:

  • Treatment of postpartum depression with medication and psychotherapy
  • Treatment of depression during pregnancy with Omega-3 supplementation
  • Treatment of perinatal anxiety with psychotherapy
  • Development of screening instruments for perinatal depression and anxiety
  • Treatment of psychiatric disorders during infertility
  • Treatment of menopausal issues
  • Treatment of PMS or PMDD issues

This research directly benefits patients who receive services based on the latest data and empirical research. Clinicians and researchers are encouraged to seek additional information on Women’s Wellness and Counseling Service’s various research endeavors, call 319-353-1898 to request information. Collaboration is also welcome. Patients also have the opportunity to learn more about the Women’s Wellness and Counseling Service’s research studies and are encouraged to take part in them if they are interested and eligible.
