Robin C. Kopelman, MD, MPH, Assistant Director for Research and Clinical Services, is a board certified psychiatrist and has been providing onsite mental health care in obstetrics and gynecology since 2003. She completed both medical school and her residency training at the University of Iowa. Her clinical interests include the treatment of mood disorders and anxiety during pregnancy and the postpartum period. Kopelman has active research programs in the development of community-oriented maternal mental health and family mental health services.
Linda Madson, MD, is a general adult psychiatrist who joined the University in 2000. She sees patients in the Adult Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic and the Women's Health Clinic. She is board certified in psychiatry and neurology. She has particular interests in mood disorders, women's issues, physician wellness, and medical education.
Joy E. Moel, PhD, has been engaged in clinical work, education, and research in the area of perinatal mental health for the past decade. She completed both her doctorate in counseling psychology and internship at The University of Iowa. Moel specializes in women's issues, interpersonal psychotherapy, relationship concerns, and work-family conflict. She also has experience in stress management, relaxation training, and coping with chronic pain. Her research interests include the treatment of perinatal mood disorders, postpartum work adjustment, and mental health services research.
Stacey A. Pawlak, PhD, is a psychology resident at the Women’s Wellness and Counseling Service. She earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Memphis and completed her doctoral internship at The University of Iowa. Pawlak has been trained extensively in interpersonal psychotherapy and has worked with pregnant and postpartum women for more than eight years. Areas of clinical interest include program evaluation; gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender issues; and the therapeutic treatment of anxiety.
Scott Stuart, MD, Clinic Director, is a board certified psychiatrist who has been engaged in clinical work, education, and research in the area of perinatal psychiatry for the past two decades. He completed medical school at the University of Kansas, followed by residency training at the University of Pittsburgh. Stuart also completed a fellowship and master’s degree in preventive medicine at The University of Iowa. His clinical interests include the treatment of mood disorders and anxiety during pregnancy and the postpartum period. Stuart is active in research regarding the treatment of perinatal depression and anxiety with both medications and psychotherapy.
Scott Temple, PhD, is a clinical psychologist and a clinical professor in the UI Department of Psychiatry. He received his doctorate at Temple University, and completed a psychology internship at the Upstate Medical Center of New York in Syracuse. He completed postdoctoral fellowships in family therapy and child psychology, at the George Washington University Medical School and the University of Kansas, respectively. He is a Founding Fellow in the Academy of Cognitive Therapy, and trained at the Beck Institute for Cognitive Therapy and Research. He has provided services to women receiving treatment for cancer, and has collaborated with Stuart in research on postpartum depression.
