Convenient Hours
State employees with work-related illness or injuries can receive care at the Workers Health Clinic in Boyd Tower, Clinic A, from 8 a.m.to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Appointments are made by calling the Clinic at 319-353-8653 prior to the visit. The UI Hospitals and Clinics Emergency Treatment Center (ETC), which is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, provides emergency care when the Clinic is closed. Follow-up care will be provided by the Workers Health Clinic. If seen in the ETC, please call to arrange an appointment as
soon as possible. If calling after hours, you will have an option to leave a message on the Clinic's answering machine.
How to use the Clinic
State employees seeking care at UI Hospitals and Clinics for a work-related injury or illness should make sure the following steps are taken so they receive prompt medical attention.
- Report all work-related injuries or illnesses to your immediate supervisor.
- Supervisor fills out First Report of Injury form.
- Call 319-353-8653 to schedule or confirm your appointment at the Workers HealthClinic.
- Register at the UI Hospitals and Clinics Main Lobby Registration Desk when you arrive for your initial appointment. Be sure Registration records that this is a work-related injury.
- Proceed to the Workers Health Clinic, located in Clinic A on the first floor of Boyd Tower near Elevator A.
- Pick up and return a completed Patient Status Report for each clinic
appointment or referral from Workers Health Clinic.
- Procedures, surgeries, or specialized tests (e.g. MRI, EMG) recommended by
other clinics must be pre-approved by workers' compensation. The Workers
Health Clinic will facilitate this pre-approval.
- You will be provided a copy of your Patient Status Report for your supervisor apprising them of your progress and future appointments.
- University of Iowa employees who are off work due to a work-related injury must keep their scheduled appointments and notify UI Benefits Office at 319-335-2679 of any missed work time.
- Parking passes are available from the receptionist following the Clinic visit.
- Workers' compensation prescriptions may be filled at UI Hospitals and Clinics Pharmacy, first floor General Hospital.
- Contact Workers Health Clinic staff for information regarding other participating pharmacies.
