Primary Care Services
With 11 locations in Johnson County and southeast Iowa, UI Health Care’s primary care clinics are conveniently located and provide a full spectrum of care, from routine to complex, for every member of the family. Services vary by location, but can include family medicine, general internal medicine, general pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology, women’s health, geriatrics, sports medicine, cardiology, renal dialysis, and more. Extended hours at several clinics offer appointment times to fit more patients’ schedules.
UI QuickCare is available for anyone six months or older suffering from common illnesses or conditions not serious enough to send you to an emergency room, and when you're unable to see your regular doctor. No appointment is needed to visit any of four convenient locations, including the new UI QuickCare-Coralville located off Highway 965 near the I-80 interchange, seven days a week. UI employees with UI Choice and Chip II health insurance plans, and their covered families, do not pay a co-pay or coinsurance when using UI QuickCare services.
UI Women’s Health offers focused health care that is unmatched in its depth of clinical expertise. We are dedicated to providing quality patient care in obstetrics and gynecology, family medicine, internal medicine, reproductive medicine and endocrinology, maternity care, urogynecology, gynecologic oncology, counseling, and other services. During the summer of 2010, we welcomed three new primary care providers--two obstetrics and gynecology physicians and a certified nurse midwife--to our service. These three physicians are welcoming new patients into their practices. Additionally the UI Midwifery Service is offering clinic hours in three of the primary care locations--North Liberty, Southeast Iowa City and River Crossing.
The UI Emergency Department offers compassionate, efficient and cutting-edge treatment by emergency medicine specialists in private patient rooms that are quiet and non-threatening. Our emergency department is the region’s only Level 1 trauma center for adults, meaning we have the expertise to handle the most critical injuries and illnesses. We are the first and only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center in Iowa. The emergency department is also home to the UI Chest Pain Center which provides prompt evaluation, treatment, and counseling for patients with chest pain.
