University of Iowa officials announced today that Vice President for Health Affairs Robert Kelch will leave the UI in September to become executive vice president for medical affairs at the University of Michigan, pending approval by the Michigan Board of Regents.

"I offer my warmest congratulations and sincere thanks to Vice President Bob Kelch as he prepares to leave," said UI President David Skorton. "It is a tremendous opportunity for him professionally. Even as he moves to Ann Arbor, Bob Kelch leaves us with a legacy of contributions that are positive and substantial,"

After Kelch's departure, UI Hospitals and Clinics Director and CEO Donna Katen-Bahensky will report directly to President Skorton. UI Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine Dean Jean Robillard will continue to report to the Provost on all academic matters but will report to Skorton with regard to the clinical partnership between the hospital and the college.
