From dining to buying a card and mailing it, UI Hospitals
and Clinics has a wide array of services available for your
convenience and comfort.
Places to Eat
ATM and Banking Services
Three automated teller machines are located within UI
Hospitals and Clinics. Look for ATMs in the Main Lobby; near
Elevator A in the
Boyd Tower lobby; and on the First Level near the Eye
Institute in Pomerantz
Family Pavilion.
Mailboxes and Stamps
Stamps are available at the
Gift Shop on the First Level off the Main Lobby.
Pre-Paid Phone Card Machine
Pre-paid long distance phone cards are sold in the Main
Lobby near the Gift Shop.
Gift Shop
The Volunteer Gift Shop is located in the Main Lobby.
You'll find toys, gifts, greeting cards, flowers, magazines,
paperback books, stamps, and other items. The shop is open
weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and weekends from 10 a.m.
to 6 p.m. Call 6-4322 (356-4322 off campus) for more

Newspaper Machines
Newspaper machines are located in the Main Lobby and on
the First Level of the Pomerantz
Family Pavilion.
Beauty Salon
Hair care services and products (Aveda, Kendra, Biolage)
are available weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Walk-ins
are accepted. For an appointment, call 6-1996 (356-1996 off
campus). The salon is on the Fourth Level near Elevator
BE.
Prayer and Meditation Room
A 24-hour, non-denominational chapel for prayer and
meditation is located on the First Level near Elevator
B.
Patient and Visitor Activities Center
This center offers a refreshment kiosk and rooftop lounge
for patients and guests, a patients' library, a medical
museum, art exhibits, and a multipurpose room. Take
Elevator F to the
Eighth Level and follow the signs.
Patients' Library
The Patients' Library is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on
weekdays and 1 to 4 p.m. on weekends. It features books,
children's materials and story hour, magazines, audiotapes,
videotapes, a health information center, Internet access,
free e-mail accounts, a fax machine, and a copy machine. It
is located on the Eighth Level, near Elevator
F.
Medical Museum
The Medical Museum has free, self-guided exhibits of
historical and contemporary health care items. Museum hours
are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and 1 to 4 p.m. on
weekends. It is located on the Eighth Level, near Elevator
F.
Children's Play Areas
The University of Iowa Children's Hospital Playcourt is a popular
feature used by many families visiting UI Hospitals and
Clinics.
This large, accessible playcourt is located outside on
the First Level between the John Colloton and Pappajohn
pavilions. The playcourt includes age-specific play areas
for toddlers, preschoolers, and older children. The area
includes an accessible swing, interactive play panels, a
basketball court, a covered picnic pavilion, a grassy play
area, and benches.
A second playground is located outside on the First Level
between the Roy
Carver and Colloton
pavilions.
Project Art
Project Art conducts a range of art programs and services, including a Permanent Collection of over 3,600 original works of art and 2,200 reproductions; Temporary Exhibits in four locations of UI Hospitals and Clinics, representing local, regional, and nationally-recognized artists; Performing Arts events, featuring music, dance, and theater; the Art Cart; and Art Supplies for patients. Designated Smoking Areas
For the health and comfort of patients, visitors, and
staff, smoking is not permitted in UI Hospitals and Clinics.
Please ask at the Information Desk for a brochure detailing
smoking-permitted areas outdoors.
