During your stay, many other health care professionals, including staff members from laboratories, the pharmacy, the radiology department, and physical or occupational therapists, may visit you. Social Workers
Social workers are available to help patients and family members cope with financial, social, and emotional concerns related to their hospitalization. They help with discharge planning, rehabilitation, and coordinating in-home care services. The department offers interpretation and translation services, and health care benefits assistance. If you would like to speak to the social worker assigned to your unit, please tell your nurse.

Pet Therapy
Research has shown that people in stressful medical situations are comforted by pet therapy and may actually see their health improve because of interaction with animals. In some units, the family pet dog or cat may be permitted to visit you. Also, in some units, a certified dog and handler may be available to visit you. If you are interested, please ask your nurse about the Furry Friends program.
