Patient and Visitor Information

Parking and Transportation Services

We offer a broad range of facilities and programs designed to meet everyone's needs - whether you just want to know the best place to park, or need special assistance in reaching your destination.

Parking

Patient and visitor parking is available in Hospital Parking Ramps 1, 2, 3, and 4.

If you need to be at the hospital for several days, you may want to purchase a reduced-rate, seven-day parking permit at the hospital ramps cashiers' windows. The permit is valid for seven consecutive days.

For a nominal fee (which includes the parking ramp charge), parking valets at UI Hospitals and Clinics will park and retrieve your car. This convenient service is available to all patients and visitors. Valets are available at the main hospital entrance and at the Eye Clinic entrance of the Pomerantz Family Pavilion (the entrance closest to Pappajohn Pavilion).

Wheelchair Assistance

Wheelchairs are available at the main entrance from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Our Guest Services staff will be happy to assist you as you enter the hospital. Call 102 on any in-house phone to request a patient escort. After hours, please request a wheelchair and/or escort at the Registration Desk.

PATmobile

The PATmobile (Personal Assisted Transportation vehicle) serves patients and visitors who are not necessarily in need of a wheelchair escort, but would benefit from some motorized transportation from building to building within the hospital.

The service is available from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays. You can request PATmobile service at the first floor information desk, or by calling 102 from any in-house phone.

Patient Transportation Program

The University of Iowa Health Care Patient Transportation Program provides door-to-door transportation service for Iowa patients who cannot provide their own transportation, or who do not have convenient public transportation from their homes to the hospital. Please call 319-356-2346 for more information on this service.
