Hospital Amenities for Your Convenience and Comfort

From dining to buying a card and mailing it, UI Hospitals and Clinics has a wide array of services available for your convenience and comfort.

Dining Services

Visitor Dining Room and Coffee Shop

Services are available in the Visitors Dining Room and Coffee Shop, adjacent to the main lobby.

Coffee, beverages and snacks: 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Breakfast: 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.

Lunch: 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Dinner: 4:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Rooftop Cafe

ArtRock Café

Located on the lower level directly across from elevator I, the ArtRock Café serves coffee, drinks, fruit, and snacks from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Hot soup and a variety of sandwiches are available from 11:00 am. to 1:30 p.m.

If you are unable to leave your appointment area during lunch time, please ask the reception desk clerk if you may have a box lunch delivered.

ATM and Banking Services

Three automatic teller machines are located within the hospital facilities. Look for ATMs in the main lobby, near elevator A in the Boyd Tower lobby, and on the first floor near the ophthalmology clinic in Pomerantz Pavilion.

You may also cash personal checks (up to $20/day) and receive change at the cashier's window between elevators B and C, first floor.

Designated Smoking Areas

For the health and comfort of patients, visitors, and staff, smoking is not permitted in any University of Iowa Health Care facility. Please ask at the information desk for a brochure detailing outdoor smoking areas.

Gift Shop

Fourth Floor Salon

The Fourth Floor Salon is sponsored by Volunteer Services at UI Hospitals and Clinics.

Prayer and Meditation Room

A non-denominational chapel for prayer and meditation is located on the first floor near the entrance to Boyd Tower.

Patient and Visitor's Activities Center

This center, which opened in 1989, offers a lounge for University of Iowa Health Care patients and guests, a patients' library, a medical museum, and a multipurpose room for films, performances, seminars, conferences, and worship services. To reach the center, take elevator F to the eighth floor and follow the signs.

The rooftop lounge offers a beautiful skyline view of Iowa City. You can also enjoy a cup of gourmet coffee and a muffin or cookie there, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The Patients' Library is open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on weekdays and 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on weekends. It features basic library services plus a Health Information Center, where you'll find books, brochures, and videotapes on various health topics.

The Medical Museum has free, self-guided exhibits of historical and contemporary health care items. You can visit between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on weekdays, and 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on weekends.
