Department of Radiation Oncology
Radiation therapy at University of Iowa Health Care meets the needs
of patients with cancer. Care is provided through a
multidisciplinary, comprehensive center and patients receiving
radiation have the experience of a number of cancer specilists
continually focused on their care. The expertise of the radiation
oncology team includes radiation oncologists, radiation therapists,
medical hysicists, dosimetrists, oncology nurses, and assistants. The
division concentrates on image guided therapy using high resolution
CT, MRI, and functional imaging. The availability of stereotactic
radiosurgery, optic guidance with noninvasive techniques as well as
intensity modulation with systems such as the Peacock, all contribute
the the advanced technology focus. Integration with multidisciplinary
teams in the University of Iowa Cancer Center is a critical part of
this program.
