Join UI Heart and Vascular Center and the American Heart Association to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease in women. Wear red on Friday, February 4, as part of national Go Red for Women initiative. According to the American Heart Association, cardiovascular disease claims more women's lives than the next seven causes of death combined - about 500,000 women's lives a year. Pick up a red dress sticker Friday in UI Hospitals and Clinics cafeterias or the UI Heart and Vascular Center clinic on fourth level, Carver Pavilion. The red dress stickers include information on preventing heart disease. Stop at the UI Heart and Vascular Center clinic and for a $1 donation to the Heart Walk, you can receive a red dress pin. For a $2 donation to the Heart Walk, you can pick up a Òlive and learnÓ red bracelet. Quantities are limited so it is first-come, first-served. The Heart Walk is Saturday, April 9. If you are interested in walking or being a team captain, please contact Cindy Penney, UI Heart and Vascular Center, 319-384-7230, or Tom Walljasper, UI Community and Patient Relations, 319-384-7453. Enroll in the Go Red for Women campaign. You'll receive newsletters, e-cards and interactive tools to help you stay heart-healthy. Join the American Heart Association's free Choose to Move and Cholesterol Low Down programs and learn to take charge of your health. |
