Volunteers Recognized For
Their Contributions


This week, UI Hospitals and Clinics honors our more than 1,200 volunteers who are committed to serving patients, families, and visitors. We thank them for generously giving their time and talent.

"We place a very high value on the contributions of our volunteers," said Mary Ameche, director of Volunteer Services.Ê "We deeply appreciate all that they do and the key roles they play in making this one of the best hospitals in America."

Did you know?

  • Volunteers have been part of UI Hospitals and Clinics for more than 30 years.
  • In FY 2003-04, 1,274 volunteers donated 75,502 hours of service to UI Hospitals and Clinics.
  • The equivalent financial value of their services would be well overÊ$1 million.
  • Volunteer Services provided more than $20,000 in scholarships to high school and college student volunteers in 2004.
  • In 2004, nearly $200,000 was contributed by Volunteer Services to support programs and services that benefit patients and their families at UI Hospitals and Clinics.
