The STAR 102.5 KSTZ morning team of Big Ken and Colleen raised more than $157,000 to help children and families cared for at University of Iowa Children's Hospital. The Des Moines station's marathon broadcast was held May 25 through May 27 and originated from University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Big Ken and Colleen shared the stories of patients and families cared for at University of Iowa Children's Hospital. Donations from listeners will be given to the Children's Miracle Network to help support patients and their families at the University of Iowa Children's Hospital at UI Hospitals and Clinics. "We were deeply moved by the stories of the families we met," said "Big Ken" Auge. "They are truly heroes and we are honored to be able to help them." "I am so proud of our listeners. They really stepped up and opened their hearts to these families," Colleen Kelly said. Callers pledged $157,242 during the broadcast. You can also still donate online. University of Iowa Children's Hospital at UI Hospitals and Clinics is the state's longest-serving children's hospital. More than 130,000 children receive care at University of Iowa Children's Hospital and its statewide network of outreach clinics each year. Children's Miracle Network is the nation's largest charitable organization. Funds raised through Children's Miracle Network events are used to support the work of affiliated children's hospitals. Donations are used to enhance the quality of patients' hospital stays, support research and purchase the sophisticated pediatric health care equipment necessary to care for critically ill and injured children.
