Twist an ankle at a Friday lunch basketball game? Knee swollen after a football game? Now you don't have to wait until the next week for the doctor's office to open. Staff members from the UI Sports Medicine Center are offering a Saturday morning injury clinic at UI Family Care Center, North Liberty, beginning Saturday, August 20. "Sports injuries don't conveniently fit into most people's schedules," said Ned Amendola, M.D., UI Sports Medicine Center director. "With this Saturday walk-in clinic, we hope to offer a convenient weekend option for anyone who needs a sports injury evaluation. This clinic is aimed at high school and recreational athletes who want an urgent, walk-in, easily accessible service, to assess the severity of their injury and begin the recommended treatment. Hopefully this will save time and return them to their sport successfully." The clinic will be open from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturdays beginning August 20 and continue throughout football season. The UI Sports Medicine staff will:
