Y105 Will Broadcast Children's
Miracle Network Radiothon In Dubuque

The Y105 FM morning team of Chris and Rachel will broadcast the fourth annual Y105 Radiothon for Kids at University of Iowa Children's Hospital from Dubuque's Kennedy Mall Tuesday through Friday, August 30 through September 2, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Chris and Rachel, will share the stories of patients, families and University of Iowa Children's Hospital staff as they attempt to break their total from last year. The 2004 Y105 radiothon raised more than $75,000 to help make a difference in the hospital experience of children from across the region.

"We meet such wonderful, brave parents and kids through the Children's Miracle Network radiothon," says host Chris Farber. "I am so proud of Y105 and our support of the University of Iowa Children's Hospital at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. We work year round to show our support through various fundraising activities."

The Foresters organization is underwriting the Y105 radiothon. Their assistance helps with program costs, permitting 100 percent of the proceeds of the event to go directly to University of Iowa Children's Hospital.

"We serve many Dubuque families in our neonatal intensive care unit, our pediatric intensive care unit and our regular in-patient units. Our assistance with the care of these patients stems from a developed partnership with home physicians. Our specialists help diagnose and prepare a protocol for treatment in tandem with the patient's home physician," says Michael Artman, MD, Physician-in-Chief, University of Iowa Children's Hospital.

Local schools, businesses and individuals will make check presentations during the four-day event. Radiothon proceeds help create new programs for children and support ongoing research and enhancements to patient stays through services such as pain management and patient education.

Opportunities for volunteers to staff the radtiothon telephones are still available. For more information about how you can support the Y105 radiothon, contact Michelle Altmaier at 319-335-9003.
