For a limited time, Kohl's Stores in Iowa are offering exclusive collector's editions of Peanuts books, "A Charlie Brown Christmas," "I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown!" and "Snoopy: Flying Ace to the Rescue." Kohl's is also offering exclusive Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and Woodstock plush characters and coordinating outfits. As part of its Kohl's Cares for Kids program, Kohl's stores across the country will feature the exclusive items for $5 each, with 100 percent of the net profits benefiting children's health and education opportunities in Kohl's markets across the country. The items will also be available online. In Iowa, Kohl's has chosen University of Iowa Children's Hospital at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics as a beneficiary of the Kohl's Cares for Kids program. Through the program, Kohl's has donated more than $715,000 over the past five years to University of Iowa Children's Hospital to support programs such as Starbright World, Reach Out and Read, CarePage Service, the hospital tutor program and its renovated pediatrics classroom, family-centered care initiatives, and community outreach projects. "We are thrilled to be able to offer this special edition collection of children's Peanuts books and plush characters to our customers," said Julie Gardner, senior vice president of marketing for Kohl's. "By buying and sharing these ageless stories, shoppers will help raise millions of dollars for our Kohl's Cares for Kids program nationwide." The collector's edition Peanuts books feature the classic Peanuts characters in brightly colored illustrations based on stories and comics by Charles M. Schultz. "A Charlie Brown Christmas" is the classic holiday tale of Charlie Brown and his quest for the true meaning of Christmas. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the first Peanuts television movie based on the book, which is the longest-running cartoon special in history, airing every year since its debut in 1965. "I Want a Dog For Christmas, Charlie Brown!" is the story of Lucy and Linus's younger brother, Rerun, who wants a dog of his own and there's only one person who can help - Santa Claus! Snoopy the Flying Ace bravely keeps the world safe during World War I in "Snoopy: Flying Ace to the Rescue." In addition to supporting children's health and educational opportunities, the Kohl's Cares for Kids program features a gift card fundraising opportunity for local schools and nonprofit youth groups; the Kohl's Kids Who Care program, which recognizes kids who contribute through volunteerism to their local communities; and the associate volunteer program, which encourages volunteerism to benefit local nonprofit organizations. Based in Menomonee Falls, Wis., Kohl's is a family-focused, value-oriented specialty department store offering moderately priced national and exclusive brand apparel, shoes, accessories, and home and beauty products. University of Iowa Children's Hospital is the state's longest-serving children's hospital. More than 130,000 children receive care at University of Iowa Children's Hospital and its statewide network of outreach clinics each year. |
