ACL Injury Prevention: Is It Really Possible?

Can you really prevent an ACL injury, a common problem of the knee?

The UI Sports Medicine Clinic will host ACL injury expert Tim Hewett, Ph.D., University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Cincinnati, at a free public seminar Saturday, December 3, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Sahai Auditorium in the Medical Education Research Facility on the University of Iowa Campus.

Call UI Health Access at 319-384-8442 to register and for directions.

Hewitt has developed a series of exercises to strengthen and prevent season-ending knee injuries. Join him and UI Sports Medicine experts Ned Amendola, M.D., and Glenn Williams, Ph.D., P.T. as they discuss:

  • Common knee injuries
  • How the injuries occur
  • How they are repaired, and
  • What athletes can do to prevent them, including a demonstration of Hewitt's techniques.
