UI Sports Medicine Center
Offers Throwing Seminar


Specialists with the UI Sports Medicine Center will present a special, free public seminar on throwing techniques for baseball and softball players, coaches and parents on Monday, April 10, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Sahai Auditorium at Medical Education Research Facility at the University of Iowa.

Presenters, all from the UI Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, include:

These experts take care of the Hawkeye baseball and softball players. In addition, Gayle Blevins, head UI softball coach, and Jack Dahm, head Hawkeye baseball coach, will join the panel.

The presenters will field question from the audience and cover topics such as:

  • Preventing throwing injuries
  • Identifying and correcting improper throwing mechanics
  • Detecting injuries early
  • Common elbow and shoulder injuries
  • Recent surgical advances
  • Rehabilitation programs
