A total of 19 UI Hospitals and Clinics nurses have been named to the 2006 "100 Great Iowa Nurses" list. The announcement of the recognition results from nominations by fellow health care professionals and a review of the nominees by the Iowa Nursing Association.
"This award reflects the strength and quality of our nurses," said Linda Q. Everett, Ph.D., associate director and chief nursing officer at UI Hospitals and Clinics. "This group of individuals represents the very best of our profession. We are very proud to call them our colleagues and pleased that they have received this richly deserved accolade."

The 2005 listing of 100 Great Iowa Nurses included nine nurses from UI Hospitals and Clinics.
Approximately 2,000 nursing professionals work in the Department of Nursing Services and Patient Care in UI Hospital and Clinics. The department received the prestigious Magnet Hospital Designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center in March 2004, becoming the first hospital in Iowa to earn the international award.
