Armstrong’s Schedule On July 27, Lance Armstrong will ride with the more than 10,000 participants in the 34th annual RAGBRAI (Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa) for LIVESTRONG® Iowa at RAGBRAI. Armstrong’s goal is to raise awareness about the needs of people living with cancer and to challenge Iowa’s communities to join him and the Lance Armstrong Foundation in an effort to make cancer a national priority. “We’ve made tremendous strides in the fight against cancer. But it’s not enough,” Armstrong says. “Every day Americans continue to suffer and die from cancer, and that’s unacceptable. We need to make a change, and Iowa is where big ideas and political change are born. That’s why I’m asking RAGBRAI participants and supporters to step it up. It’s time our political leaders, both present and future, recognize that cancer is the second leading killer of Americans and must be a priority on their political agenda.” To signal LIVESTRONG® Iowa at RAGBRAI, Armstrong is encouraging all RAGBRAI participants and spectators to wear yellow on Thursday, July 27, to demonstrate how many people are affected by cancer, to raise awareness about the needs of millions of Americans fighting and living with cancer and to signal to our political leaders that it is time to make cancer a national priority. On Friday, July 28, Armstrong will participate in a hearing, along with members of the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, about cancer priorities hosted by the Senate Labor, Health, and Human Services and Education Appropriations Subcommittee with U.S. Senator Tom Harkin at the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine. Wednesday, July 26—Newton
