UI Sports Medicine to Host
Seminar on Sports Preparation

What can you do to prepare your young athlete for competition? Find out by attending a public seminar presented by UI Sports Medicine from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, August 14, in the Sahai Auditorium in the Medical Education and Research Facility (MERF).

Join University of Iowa faculty members Ned Amendola, MD and George Phillips, MD and dietitian Kathy Mellen for this pre-season presentation focusing on youth sports medicine issues and injuries. There will be time to ask the panel members questions.

Designed for coaches, parents, and players, this free seminar will cover:

  • Nutritional needs for the best performance
  • Pros and cons of sports drinks
  • Dispelling the myths of sport-related injuries in children
